·         Dogs and cats must be older than 8 weeks and have proof of required vaccinations to travel

·         Guide dogs are allowed no matter their weight and size

·         Pets must be ready to get up in their carriers and switch around

Pets within the Baggage Compartment: American Airlines Policy

·         Pets traveling must have a health certificate within 10 days of originating travel and within 60 days of returning travelers on an equivalent ticket and 10 days of a special ticket.

·         Dogs and cats must be over 8 weeks old

·         If two animals are sharing a carrier they need to be an equivalent species and can't weight quite 20 lbs.

·         Maximum size for carriers is 40″ x 27″ x 30″ and must be ready to fit through the door while remaining in an upright position

·         Carriers must be made up of hard materials like wood, metal, plastic, or similar materials

·         Carriers must escape-proof and leak proof
